re:publica in digital exile on 7 May 2020
Behind the re:publica team lies six weeks (or, to be exact, 35 working days), of intense conceptual work on our first digital re:publica edition. Today, we are therefore very pleased to announce that re:publica in digital exile will take place on May 7, 2020. On the newly created media platform re-publica.tv, a one-day, free online conference will focus on the urgently needed social discourses and thus reflect upon the current global situation that is redefining social interaction as we know it.
Needless to say, we have been confronted with a completely new situation in recent months, which surprised us in many places and presented us with completely new challenges. Nevertheless, we also see the circumstances surrounding the Coronavirus crisis as an opportunity and a starting point for reinventing learned processes and formats.
With the re:publica in digital exile, we want to create a prototype for an online conference format: for us as organisers, for you as a community and for our numerous partners and companions of the past years.
re:publica Berlin in August in an unfamiliar format
The analogue re:publica Berlin, which has been postponed from May 6 – 8, 2020 to August 10 – 12, 2020, will not be able to take place in the familiar format in light of the ban on major events enforced until 24 October 2020. Tickets already purchased for re:publica Berlin 2020 remain valid for re:publica Berlin 2021. Since we, too, have only had certainty about this event ban for a few days, we ask you to be patient with the question of how things will proceed in concrete terms—and above all, we ask for your support!
The community is you!!
In the coming weeks, we will examine which formats could be implemented in the digital space within the framework of the applicable regulations and restrictions. As always, we would like to actively involve you in this process and therefore look forward to your feedback, suggestions, concrete ideas and/or topic proposals.
But first of all and with great anticipation we look forward to May 7, 2020! Further information—also about the programme on re-publica.tv will follow in the coming days at www.re-publica.tv.
Please send us everything that comes to your mind—also during and after #rpREMOTE: email@example.com
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Your re:publica team!
